LIFE INSURANCE FOR ACTIVE AND RETIRED EMPLOYEES
Eligibility. Lay employees employed in parishes and institutions of the diocese and working at least 20 hours per week are eligible. Employees must apply for coverage within 30 days of beginning employment. Benefits are not available to clergy.
Plan Overview. Two levels of group life insurance are available for active employees and one level for retired employees. Active employees may apply for life insurance valued at either $10,000 or $25,000 (check with your parish or institution to see which level is offered). Retired employees may apply for $2,000 in life insurance. The insurance is offered through The Church Life Insurance Corporation. Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D) is included with the diocesan group life insurance program for active employees.
If employment is ended life insurance may be continued by replacing the group policy with an individual policy through Church Life Insurance Company. Application for conversion must be made within 31 days after group insurance is terminated (normally the end of employment).

Income Replacement Insurance for Active Employees (IRP or Short-Term)
Eligibility. Lay and ordained employees of parishes and institutions of the diocese working at least 20 hours per week are eligible. Employees must apply for coverage within 30 days of beginning employment.
Plan Overview. The plan is offered by Church Life Insurance Corporation in cooperation with First Unum Provident Life Insurance Company. The plan pays 70% of compensation with a maximum of $1,000 per week after 30 days of total disability. Benefits are paid up to 52 weeks and are reduced by Worker’s Compensation, state disability benefits (if any), and social security benefits if applicable. The plan is available to both lay employees and clergy.

Long Term Disability Insurance for Active Employees (LTD) Eligibility. Lay and ordained employees of parishes and institutions of the diocese and working at least 20 hours per week are eligible. Employees must apply for coverage within 30 days of beginning employment.
Plan Overview. This insurance is available for clergy and lay employees. Benefits are payable after twelve months of certified disability and are in addition to any benefits received from pension or social security. This plan is offered by the Church Life Insurance Corporation. Two options are available:
LTD25 – provides replacement of 25% of compensation
LTD50 – provides replacement of 50% of compensation.
LTD insurance may be purchased in conjunction with Income Replacement Insurance at discounted rates. The premiums for LTD and LTD with IRP are:
